we were not made for a constant pace

And yet most of life moves quickly - full schedules, full responsibilities, full attention. Over time, even good things can begin to feel heavy.

Retreat is a simple idea: to step away, to slow down and to create space.

At Fairhaven, retreats are not a program to complete or a schedule to keep. They are an invitation into a different rhythm of life.

You are invited to shape your retreat in a way that fits your purposes.

However you choose to retreat, Fairhaven offers a calm, unhurried setting where your own rhythm can take shape.

Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." —Mark 6:31

individuals and small groups

A man with gray hair and a plaid blanket sits reading a book next to a lit fireplace, a table with a glass of water, books, and a lamp, in a cozy living room with a window showing snow outside.

Whether you’re coming on your own, as a couple, with your family, or with a small group of friends, Fairhaven offers space to step away from the demands of everyday life and settle into a slower pace.

A retreat is entirely your own. There is no program to follow or schedule to keep - just the freedom to rest, reflect, or connect. Stay in our private cottages, wander the forest trails, curl up with a book by the fire, or spend the day discovering the beauty of the Okanagan.

Sometimes there’s more to carry than a few quiet days can hold. At Fairhaven, we offer support for your journey for those who want it.

Fairhaven welcomes groups seeking space to gather with purpose in a quiet and unhurried setting. Whether you’re planning a leadership retreat, board meeting, staff gathering, workshop, or other organized group experience, you are invited to shape your own schedule around what you need most.

With meeting spaces, shared gathering areas, private cottages and the beauty of the property all around you, Fairhaven offers space for meaningful conversation, connection and rest. Our team is glad to help you create a gathering that fits your group's unique needs.

where you’ll retreat

A multi-story modern house with large glass windows, stone pillars, a green metal roof, and a spacious patio with outdoor furniture, surrounded by lush green trees and a well-maintained lawn.

the lodge

At the heart of Fairhaven sits the Charles Shepson Lodge - warm, welcoming and open to both quiet reflection and shared connection.

With sweeping views over Okanagan and Kalamalka Lakes, the lodge offers space to both gather and to rest.

Find a quiet corner in the Library with a book or journal. Meet over coffee by the fire in the Great Room. Host an event in the Gathering Room. Spend time together over billiards, puzzles, games or conversation in the Lower Lounge. Relax on the patio by the fire or challenge a friend to yard games. Or simply step onto the upper deck, breathe deeply, and let the stillness do its work.

the cottages

Fairhaven offers six private cottages nestled throughout the property, each thoughtfully designed as a quiet place to rest and settle in. Some are tucked among the trees. Others open to sweeping views of the valley and lakes. Each one offers its own sense of peace, along with the warmth of a fireplace and the comfort of a space that feels like home.

Every cottage is fully equipped with a kitchen, comfortable living space, linens, and everything you need for your stay - simply bring your food and arrive ready to rest.

The cottages are intentionally WiFi-free, inviting you to let go of constant connection and enter a slower rhythm of rest, presence, and attention to what matters most.

the campground

For those who feel most at home outdoors, Fairhaven offers six fully serviced campsites tucked into the quiet of the property.

Each site includes water, sewer, and electrical hookups, with easy access to the Charles Shepson Lodge for bathrooms, showers, and laundry facilities.

Wake to birdsong and fresh mountain air. Spend the day exploring the trails or taking in the views. End the evening beneath the trees as the light fades over the valley.

Camping at Fairhaven offers the simplicity of being close to nature, with the comfort and convenience of the amenities you need for a restful stay.

the property

Fairhaven rests on 167 acres of forest on the side of Silver Star Mountain.

It is a place of contrasting beauty - wide views over Okanagan and Kalamalka Lakes, and deep stillness beneath the trees.

Trails wind through the property, leading you deeper into the forest, along babbling creeks, and offering you places to stop awhile and listen to the birds. Many who come here speak of the same thing. A sense of quiet that meets them almost immediately. As if creation itself is inviting them to exhale.

This is what this place offers. Not distraction. Not hurry. But space. Space to walk. Space to rest. Space to remember that we are part of something larger, held by a creation that speaks of God’s goodness.
