Your Role

As the Director of Operations, you will work alongside the Executive Director to ensure the smooth functioning of our retreat centre. This role encompasses leadership, assisting with strategic planning, operations management and implementation, and team-building. You’ll oversee day-to-day operations, coach staff and volunteers, and contribute to long-term organizational goals while embodying the values that make Fairhaven unique.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Community

  • Model and promote servant leadership, fostering a positive and supportive environment that serves our guests.
  • Coach and guide staff and volunteers, empowering them to fulfill their roles effectively.
  • Cultivate partnerships with like-minded organizations and stakeholders.

Operations & Management

  • Oversee facility operations, guest registration, and communication systems.
  • Evaluate and improve programs, policies, and procedures to align with our mission.
  • Lead the planning and execution of facility expansion and maintenance projects.

Budget & Administration

  • Collaborate on annual budgets and monitor cash flow accordingly.
  • Manage accounts, support fundraising efforts, and write grant proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and risk management requirements.

Team Building & Support

  • Support recruitment, training, and development of staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and healthy workplace culture.

Personal Growth

  • Prioritize your own emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical well-being.
  • Encourage and support the personal growth and well-being of the team.

What We’re Looking For

  • An experienced leader with a heart for service and the ability to inspire others.
  • Strong organizational, planning and implementation skills.
  • Experience in operations management, team leadership, and budget oversight.
  • A commitment to personal and professional growth that aligns with our mission.
  • Familiarity with non-profit organizations and retreat settings is an asset.
  • General problem solving, maintenance, and grounds keeping experience is an asset.

This is a full time, resident onsite position, best served by a couple who share Fairhaven’s mission and reflective ethos. While one person in the ministry couple is the staff member, there is an expectation that the spouse contributes as a volunteer in some way, as time and abilities allow.

Housing is provided as part of the commensurate salary ($50,000 – $60,000) package. The position will begin April 1st, 2025.
