One of the distinguishing features of a Christ-follower is a generous spirit. Over and over again we have been the recipients of this generosity. We are a faith-based ministry and operate under a policy of “no debt”.
There are times when that commitment is put to the test as available funds become low. One such time occurred recently as Len and Fay prepared to leave on a trip to the Caregivers Forum in Georgia and then on to the board retreat for Fairhaven, U.S. in November. This caused us to wonder about the wisdom of leaving at that time but, with a good staff in place here at home and the promise of God’s faithfulness, we left. How exciting and faith-building it was to receive word from the staff that, while we were away, substantial gifts arrived for the ministry! This has given us some breathing room.
We are so grateful for our partners who listen to God and respond with such generosity. One of the projects we’ve been wanting to pursue has been the shelves and books for the library/reading room.
Again, the spirit of generosity shone brightly as a regular guest of Fairhaven sent us a substantial gift to begin outfitting this room. Construction of the shelves has been completed and we are well underway in filling them with helpful and inspirational books.
Another need has been the purchase of laundry equipment for the lodge. Knowing our need, another generous supporting couple arranged for the purchase of the first set of a quality washer and dryer. This has greatly eased the load of our housekeeping staff.
Christmas has arrived early here at Fairhaven!
We are daily made aware of our need to trust Him for ongoing expenses and future growth.
