One Guest’s Experience

As you consider supporting Fairhaven, allow one of our guests to share with you a few thoughts on what might be the return on your investment in this Kingdom work!

Ken Shigematsu’s experience with Fairhaven Leadership Retreat from Fairhaven Ministries on Vimeo.

Extending your care and compassion to those in Christian leadership . . .

is both easy and convenient.

“We are intimately linked in this harvest work. Anyone who accepts what you do, accepts me, the One who sent you. Anyone who accepts what I do accepts my Father, who sent me. Accepting a messenger of God is as good as being God’s messenger. Accepting someone’s help is as good as giving someone help. This is a large work I’ve called you into, but don’t be overwhelmed by it. It’s best to start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance. The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won’t lose out on a thing.”

There are several practical ways in which to contribute a “cup of water” to a thirsty leader and invest in their life and the life of their family . . .

Please note: Canadahelps charges a 3.5% transaction fee per donation.

4. Gifts in Kind
Supporters from time to time inquire about specific needs for things like library resources, computer equipment, lawn care equipment, vehicles, etc. The CRA does allow us to provide tax receipts for fair market value of gifts of “property.” Our current needs include:

  • a chopsaw and wood planer for our maintenance shop,
  • bluetooth compatible speakers for our cottages as we update our cassette/CD players, and
  • a side by side ATV that will serve as a “counselling office” for those more comfortable in a less formal setting!

Please contact us for specifics on any of these needs.

5. Gifts of securities (stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds)
Additional tax benefits can often be realized by donating securities directly to a charity rather than selling them and donating the proceeds. Please contact your financial advisor to discuss this easy process.

6. Planned giving
Intentional estate planning utilizing tools such as bequests in a will and life insurance can minimize or eliminate capital gains and estate taxes while at the same time providing a significant gift to Fairhaven.

If you have any questions about donating to Fairhaven Leadership Retreat, please e-mail (info@fairhavencanada.com), or give us a call (250-260-1616).

Paul meditated on God in nature. Probably he often did this in solitude. “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” -NIV

Romans 1:20
